Calculation for Academic Performance Measure

Each data element below has a designated factor value to determine the contribution of that data element's performance measure. The points earned for each data element are calculated by multiplying the performance measure by the factor value. All earned points are then added to determine the total number of points earned. The total number of points earned is then divided by the total number of possible points for the school's calculated score. Additional credit is given for advanced achievement to determine a final score. If a school does not have a performance measure for a data element, that data element is removed from the calculation thereby not impacting the calculated score.

Family Communication

We value the partnership between home and school and are constantly looking for ways to increase our means of communication.  We currently have a WLM Facebook page (Warren L. Miller Elementary), a WLM Twitter account (@WLM_Elem) and now a Remind101 account.  The Remind101 account provides an opportunity for parents, students and community members to receive text and/or email notification from the Principal.  Such notifications may include school cancellations/delays/early dismissals, upcoming school events, report card distribution and positive news about our students and school.

If you are interested in Remind101 text @wlmc to 267-828-1660 or email wlmc@mail.remind101.com.  You may discontinue notifications at any time.  We look forward to communicating with you!

Expectations

Our school wide positive behavior plan is designed around the three concepts of: Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful.  We reward children with a Tiger Paw when we “catch” them being safe, responsible and respectful.

                                        “Tiger Up!”

Perseverance is being reinforced through our new saying of “Tiger Up!”   Children often view failure as a permanent state.  The WL Miller team is working to view FAILure as the First Attempt In Learning.   When we see children becoming frustrated with a difficult concept or higher level thinking, we want to remind them to “Tiger Up!”  You may have this opportunity when a child is first learning to ride a bike, make a bed, complete a puzzle or help with laundry.  We all have failed along the way, but perseverance, resiliency and grit are necessary for us to succeed.

The Warren L. Miller team is off to a great start.  If you have questions, suggestions or comments contact Mrs. White at pwhite@southerntioga.org or 570-662-2192.
